National Capital Authority revising consultation arrangements

The National Capital Authority has sought public comments on a revised set of protocols setting out how residents and other stakeholders in the community are to be consulted on proposed actions including developments, revisions to plans, and works proposals. See here for the NCA’s online material regarding the consultation framework. Deakin Residents’ Association has made a submission to the NCA welcoming the general approach, but raising some concerns about the need for clarity regarding:

  • Who is defined as a “stakeholder” in various situations
  • What discretions the NCA reserves to consult, or not consult, and what criteria apply to those discretions
  • What process will ensure that residents, and resident representative groups in particular, are informed of all proposals that potentially may be of concern.

See the DRA submission on NCA consultation protocols here.
