  • Inner South Canberra Community Council is an umbrella organisation funded partly by the ACT Government to assist residents in their relations with local government issues. It has provided some assistance to Deakin Residents’ Association and provides an overview of issues across a range of Inner South suburbs. – click for latest newsletter.

    • The Deakin Neighbourhood Plan of 2003 was an excellent document produced by ACTPLA after an inclusive consultation process. The good planning principles and social aspirations in these plans have now been overridden by ACT Government decisions to “streamline” the planning process in favour of development on a commercial basis.This document still provides a valid starting point for Deakin community discussion on planning issues.




    • ACTMAPi is the gateway to the ACT’s interactive online map access service for planning and community purposes. Residents can find aerial photographs and a wealth of relevant planning and infrastructure information about their own and related neighbourhoods.

    • ACT Land Development Agency‘s main page for the Canberra Brickworks and Environs project plans and documents, with potential major impacts for Deakin over the next 15-20 years.

    • The National Capital Authority has a portal for information and consultation on developments and works proposals that may affect residents and users of the National Capital Area and affected zones, including parts of Deakin.


  • Canberra opinion forum The RiotACT hosts vigorous discussions on many issues of interest or concern to residents, including some public debates about recent issues of Deakin planning and development which can be found by searching that site.
